2018 0306 Solar continued

2018 0306 – The forecast weather isn’t getting better and we still have tons to do. New departure date is Monday, March 12, 2018.

I forgot to mention we sold our truck yesterday to a nice couple doing volunteer work down here with their church. They’re doing construction on homes after the hurricanes. There’s good people in the world. We hold on to the truck until we leave.

I installed most of the solar today. I should finish it in the morning after we pick up our charge controller that arrived in the mail. BTW, there’s no mail delivery to your house in the Virgin Islands. Everyone has a postal box.

The SSB (marine Ham radio) is fixed and is being sent overnight delivery. Most likely will be here Thursday. The new tuner I ordered will be here Thursday. $500 for the repair and $500 for the tuner. Yep, $1000, but a complete new setup is over $2000. BOAT (Break Out Another Thousand). All this so Ouida can earn a lot less money at a new job, but it’s somewhere new and that’s Hawaii.

Ouida spent half the day running around getting parts for us. We’re still waiting on a health certificate for Deuce to get into Panama.

There’s a lot of paperwork and background check requirements Ouida has to get done for her new job. They want her to have good internet access for the next few weeks. Ouida explained that we could get there or have good Internet, but not both. She’ll get what she can done before Monday and then we’ll get Internet when we stop at each country.

I received my new used phone yesterday. Galaxy S7 Edge. I normally take a week to set up a phone. Not this week.

Ouida reviewed our life jackets, etc. Off to get them updated tomorrow.

It’s time for my 4 hours of sleep.
